We are back with a brand new Pokémon adventure as Journey Together brings us even closer to our Pokémon friends! Scarlet & Violet Journey Together officially released on March 28th 2025 and re-introduces Trainer Pokémon Cards. These cards feature Pokémon and their trainers respectively, making for some incredible artworks which really highlight that special bond between trainer and Pokémon pairing!
A lot of crazy things are currently happening in the Pokémon world with supply and demand issues plaguing the series. Good luck trying to find a Booster Box of Journey Together at MSRP, it's tough out there! A lot of these card values are high due to their short supply so take these numbers with a pinch of salt and expect them to change in time!

If you love dragons, you will love the fact that Salamence ex comes in at number 2 on our list! Just take a look at this skilfully illustrated piece of art by Tsuyoshi Nagano. The blend of colours and design is masterful, giving Salamence a real sense realism as he flys high across the valley at dusk! This card is gorgeous and for those dragon type fans, absolutely one you NEED to have in your collection!

It didn't take long before we were adding an Iono card to this list. Iono has been the golden-goose trainer of the Scarlet & Violet era of Pokémon. Her popularity amongst fans has sky rocketed to the point where we see her with her own premium collection box and tournament collection boxes. It's no wonder why an SIR featuring Iono would climb so high up the list of the top 10 most valuable cards to pull from Journey Together. To be honest I was surprised this card wasn't ranked higher!
I would expect this card to make some moves in the future, so keep your eyes on Iono!
#5 Hop's Zacian ex SIR 183/159

If you have a soft spot for furry companions, you will love this card. Zacian, being essentially a mythical dog the size of a truck that wields a sword, Hop is one lucky trainer to have tamed this beast! An absolutely gorgeous card featuring the fan favourites as they look into each others eyes with a level of trust and determination not so commonly found in the world. Trust me when I say this card is even better in person, we've been lucky enough to pull this one from a booster pack!
#6 Volcanion ex SIR 182/159

This firey card makes it's way to the number 6 spot on our list. Volcanion is shown in his natural habitat - an erupting volcano. Thats enough to make any Pokémon look cool and valuable. This card makes a great addition to any fire-type collectors and adds just a little more red to that binder! This may possibly be the best looking SIR from Journey Together, it's unfortunately Volcanion's popularity being trumped by the big names like Iono and Lillie which puts this at number 6 on our list.

Finally we've got some gold! Hyper rare cards are some of the hardest cards to find in amongst Pokémon expansions, so it's no wonder they rank on our list of valuable cards. Zoroark is depicted steadfast in this card with N featured in the background. I wouldn't necessarily say this is the most exciting card to pull from Journey Together, however there is no better feeling than finally finding gold after ripping packs from a Booster Box.

With Journey Together being all about trainers, it's no wonder we see another one return to our number 8 spot our list! And would you believe it, another card featuring Iono! This time we have a hyper rare gold card - very hard to pull from SV8. The artwork featured is the same as the ultra rare, however seeing Iono dappled in gold matching her yellow, oversized jacket elevates the original artwork to new levels!

Something for long term fans of Pokémon, Articuno. One of the legendary bird Pokémon featuring also Zapdos & Moltres, Articuno has finally had the Illustration Rare treatment that it deserves. This Icy looking card features Articuno fluttering though an icy sky with icy crystals reaching all four corners of this gorgeous card! If you think this artwork is cool, just wait until you see it in person with the foil effect!

To cap off our list of the top 10 most valuable cards from Scarlet & Violet Journey Together, we have Wailord. This fantastically large whale depicted in a gorgeous and colourful underwater scene! Vibrant corals fill the ocean floor as Wailord completely dwarfs the sailing ship above, truly showing us his size as he stands quite comically from floor to sea level! Definitely a cool card to add to any Pokémon collection!
Final Thoughts!
Well hasn't the start of the year been off to a wild start for the Pokémon TCG! With demand running so high that supply of booster boxes and packs just can't keep up, it's no wonder why the hobby seems to be getting more and more expensive! Now the real question, is Journey Together worth it? Hot take, but I don't think some of the cards in this set really match up the the hype. Yes it's cool to see our favourite trainers united with their respective Pokémon however going on the past, trainer cards don't tend to have the same long term legs as normal Pokémon cards. Some Lillie cards from previous expansions have seen massive initial gains, then by about the 3 year mark lost nearly 50% of their initial value as players and collectors move on to different cards.
Think about it like this, we have Journey Together releasing in between two very significant and hyped expansions. Prismatic Evolutions is full to the brim of Eevee and Eeveelution cards and Destined Rivals reintroduces team rocket whos original set back from 2005 is one of the most sought after and expensive vintage sets on the market right now. It wouldn't surprise me if Journey Together looses out on larger gains as these other super hype sets take the spotlight.
With that said, Journey Together is a brilliant set blending old mechanics with new art styles and it's an absolute joy to open!
